General Foot Care

Holiday Steps

When traveling abroad, especially to warm or unfamiliar places, your feet can face several risks. Increased walking on rough or uneven surfaces, exposure to heat and humidity, and walking barefoot can lead to cuts, blisters, and infections. Long flights and inactivity may cause swelling and poor circulation, while ill-fitting shoes can cause pressure sores. Delayed treatment and limited access to medical care can make minor issues worse. If you have diabetes, your feet are more vulnerable to complications—risks that can increase during holidays. Studies show that foot ulcers are more common when traveling, especially to warm or hot climates.

Taking proper precautions and consulting our podiatrist before your trip can help protect your feet and prevent complications.
