General Foot Care

Chilblains

Chilblains are small, itchy, and often painful red or purple swellings that develop on the toes and feet when the skin reacts to sudden changes in temperature. They can cause burning, swelling, cracking or even ulceration if not managed properly.

Chilblains can’t always be cured directly, but their symptoms can be effectively managed. As Podiatrists, we can diagnose the condition, ease discomfort with soothing treatments, protect vulnerable skin with specialist dressings or insulating insoles, and provide tailored advice on footwear, circulation and prevention. We can also use advanced therapies such as laser to encourage faster healing and reduce the risk of recurrence, helping patients stay comfortable and active through the colder months.
